A Collaboration of communities
A collaboration with 10 organizations to form the South Asian Vaccine Engagement Collaborative (SAVEC).
CASSA, with the support from the City of Toronto, has curated a team of 11 organizations who have formed the South Asian Vaccine Engagement Collaborative (SAVEC). These organizations include: Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA), Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services (SAFSS), South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario (SALCO), Alliance for South Asians AIDS Prevention (ASSAP), Tamil Canadian Center for Civic Action (TCCCA), Bangladeshi- Canadian Community Services (BCS), Canadian Pakistan Association for Scarborough (CPAS), South Asian COVID-19 Task Force (SACTF), South Asian Women’s Rights Organizations (SAWRO), Punjabi Community Health Services (PCHS), and South Asian Health Network (SAHN). Above all, SAVEC will develop culturally specific messaging to inform Toronto-based South Asians on vaccine-related information. The goal here is to work alongside ethnic media, local influencers, and community leaders to educate individuals and dispel misinformation – a task most effectively done by meaningfully connecting with communities and responding to their demands.
For ease of assimilation of information, CASSA has also created a COVID-19 Vaccine Education Series featuring simplified vaccine information in 5 different South Asian languages: English, Tamil, Bangla, Punjabi and Urdu.
