From the early stages of the vaccine rollout, hesitancy in South Asian communities has been distinct from the mainstream. A concept that is difficult to pinpoint without understanding cultural-specifics, hesitancy can be best understood as a reluctance to approach the unknown – it is a matter of trust. Importantly, this trust can only be built from within as South Asians rely on their personal networks as a source of information. With this in mind, SAVEC is about empowering South Asians with the knowledge that dispels rumors and allows individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health. As an ongoing project, this page relates to all information and training resources that help break down existing knowledge barriers.
